What's the deal?

Most accounts of a marketing professional's success are documented well after their rise through the ranks. Interviews with global CMOs shed light on the plights marketers face in today's data-driven, always-on world and work to humanize them through personal anecdotes and stories of past failures. The thing is, I'm not a global CMO. I'm not even the CMO of the company I just made up in my head (but I did score a sweet internship). So how does the everyday, run-of-the-mill, beginner, make their way to the top?

My goal: document that journey from start to finish - as it happens. From my first day as a marketer to the day I take a seat behind that CMO desk (and likely beyond) I will fill this site with musings on marketing-related topics both big and small. Thoughts on emerging trends I don't understand? They'll be here. Reflections on a big mistake or failed campaign? Yup. Those too.

Don’t bunt. Aim out of the park. Aim for the company of immortals.
